What’s Included

  • Mock dance call + mock dance audition

What to Prepare / Bring

CLOTHING

  • Dance clothes (that you can move in comfortably)

  • Audition-style outfit for singing + sides (think: what you’d wear to audition for The Music Man or The Sound of Music)

SHOES

  • Jazz shoes OR clean sneakers/street sneakers suitable for a dance call

PREPARED MATERIAL

  • ONE 16–32 bar song cut or a ONE 1-minute monologue (for non-singers)

  • If singing: printed sheet music in the correct key, placed in a hard-cover 3-ring binder

    • An accompanist will be provided.

ASSIGNED SIDE

  • Students will also be assigned a short scene (side).

  • ✅ The side will be sent one week before the workshop. Students should arrive with the side prepared and ready to work in person during coaching sessions and the mock audition.

  • 12:30–2:00 PM — Song Performance Class / Sides Coaching (continued)

  • 2:00–3:00 PM — Mock Dance Audition for Industry Guests

  • 3:00–4:30 PM — Callback Prep with Industry Guests

  • 4:30–5:45 PM — Final Callbacks with Industry Guests
    (Two separate rooms — one per industry guest)

  • 5:45–6:00 PM — Wrap-Up

Follow-Up Feedback

BKA assistants will take detailed notes during the day, and industry feedback will be compiled and sent to parents approximately one week after the workshop.

BIOS FOR OUR GUEST CASTING DIRECTORS:

DEVI PEOT (Casting Assistant at Casting by Arc): s a New York City-based Producer, Casting Professional, and CEO. Recognized for transforming challenges into opportunities, she approaches each project with creativity and adaptability. She is proud to serve as a Casting Assistant at ARC, covering a multitude of projects including some of her personal favorites: Chicago The Musical, The Lion King,Life of Pi, A Wonderful World, Gatsby and My Best Friend’s Wedding.  As the founder and CEO of South Asians on Broadway LLC, her company is dedicated to celebrating and amplifying the rich diversity and cultural heritage of South Asians through the power of theater. Through this platform, she has helped develop projects such as Pigeonhole and Maya: The Musical (UK Premiere, 2025). She also served as an assistant producer on the film Land of Gold (HBO Max), which won the 2022 AT&T Untold Stories Award at Tribeca Film Festival. FRANKIE RAMIREZ (Casting Associate at The TRC Company):
Frankie Ramirez transitioned from a career as a Music Director and Musician to a career in Casting when he joined NBCUniversal’s casting department in 2016. There, he contributed to the casting of over 60 series and pilots across NBC, Peacock, SYFY, USA, and Peacock Kids, including Good Girls, Saturday Night Live, Young Rock,Chucky, This is Us, and the Law & Order franchise.

In 2022, Frankie joined Tara Rubin Casting - now The TRC Company - where he has had the privilege of working on a wide range of high-profile theatrical projects. Broadway/Touring credits include An American in Paris, Buena Vista Social Club (Artios Award winner), Death Becomes Her (Artios Award nomination), Dead Outlaw, Back to the Future, Water for Elephants (Artios Award nomination), Here Lies Love (Artios Award nomination), ALW’s Bad Cinderella, and The Phantom of the Opera. Off-Broadway and regional credits include The Gardens of Anuncia (Lincoln Center), The Preacher’s Wife (Alliance, world premiere), Like Father (Alliance, world premiere), and Stompin’ at the Savoy (DTC, world premiere), among otheres. New York workshop credits include August Rush: The Musical, Because of Winn Dixie, Diana: The Musical, Ella, and Signs of Life, among others.

Frankie brings a distinctly musical and naturalistic lens to his work and is known for designing and executing expansive, deeply targeted casting searches that reach beyond traditional pipelines - identifying talent through digital platforms, grassroots outreach, and nontraditional avenues. His work consistently champions historically excluded communities and introduces bold, one-of-a-kind artists whose presence brings specificity, authenticity, and cultural resonance to the stage. His tenacity for discovery and collaboration is consistently at the forefront of his work.

Frankie is a graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory, where he studied Musical Theatre and Musical Theatre Accompanying, is a proud member of the Casting Society (CSA), and is an inaugural member of the Drama League’s Board of NextGen Theater Leaders.

This workshop is for educational purposes only and cannot and will not be treated as an audition. Due to the nature of the arts, guest panelists who are announced may change based on availability. BKA cannot guarantee the presence of one individual from any specific office and no refunds or credits will be given should BKA need to change a guest panelist.

For liability purposes, all participants and observers must be 18 years old or younger to be a part of this workshop.

While all levels are welcome in this workshop, please discern whether your child is ready for supportive yet direct and constructive feedback before enrolling in this class.
